Hi there, I'm moving to Hanoi at the start of September for an indefinite period of time. I have a Business/PR degree and years of experience in sales. I'm looking for work with a fashion/homewares wholesaler, most likely in sales/marketing, however I'm very interested in learning about all aspects of the business. If anyone has any contacts or suggestions on work in this area I would love to hear from you.
As I am coming over on a one month tourist visa, and a position like this may take some time to find, I am thinking of looking for an english teaching position to give me time to settle in, catch my breath, and secure a business visa. I don't have a TEFL certificate, just the Bachelor degree. Would this be enough to get a teaching position?
Cheers! C
Hi there,
I am moving to Hanoi in a week and am considering buying a motorbike (and getting lessons on how to ride one!). My travel insurance will only cover me if I have an Australian Motorbike license, which I don't have...although I can get a 'learners' permit before I leave (this is just a written test and in Australia would still mean you have to have someone with a 'full' license ride with you). The insurance company has said that as long as Vietnam 'recognise' a learners license as a valid license to drive with over there, I will be covered...however the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia didn't really seem to understand me when I asked if they recognise the difference between a learners and an open license....ahem...sorry, this is getting long winded... anyway, if anyone does know the answer to this probably 'grey area' question, I would love to know. Got to make sure this precious cargo will be covered as I am of the understanding there is an excessively high rate of motorbike accidents!!!!

Okay I know there are normally signs everywhere advertising cute fluffy kittens, and there's a cat giving birth in every alley every night, but at the moment I don't know of any kittens needing a good home. I may possibly be in the market for a little ball of fluff so if anyone knows of a sweet tempered cuddly little angel (grey or black would be lovely but I'd love it no matter the colour!), let me know!
I am looking for a skilled 'cameraperson' to film a volunteer medical trek beginning next Tuesday in the hill tribe villages around Mai Chau. It only needs to be for a few days and a video camera will be provided. If you have a background in this area please contact me at christineandrews07@gmail.com or phone 097 654 5852.

Hello, thanks for responding to me. I think until I arrive and investigate my options it is hard for me to say whether I could commit to six months. I will keep it in mind though!

hmmmm...i have to say i initially questioned paying those 'premium' rates for a cleaner, but hell, I paid more rent in Bondi per week than I do for my super housekeeper per month....and now my knickers are folded, my socks are matching, and I'm coming home to the BEST chicken schnitzel ever for a bargain price ...which is equivalent to Sam's surreptulous (sp) cleaner. It took me a while though - you do get into the mindset of 'shock horror' that apple cost 50c instead of 10c! Maybe it's a sad state to get into questioning an already low pay (compared to ours), but this seems to be the way things swing after you've been here for a while, unfortunate, but true. And hell, I've slogged my ars off to over the years, it's just that it's all relative...Either way, times are a changing in Vietnam, and even if I think it's cheeky to up the price by that much, hands up to a woman standing up for her self worth and abilities. I will huff and puff away with the best of them, until I come home to that delicious home cooked dinner and sigh a happy sigh!!!!!
