More a meta-comment than an actual comment (although I find this place crappy to say the least).

If you look at all the 4/5 stars comments, they have all been done by users (Leyla, Robwhite, nguyen01 and nanny) who haven't commented on any other place since then. The first 3 have registered to the NH the 26/28th of July (when the restaurant has opened, if I remember correctly). Strange coincidences, no?

This new restaurant is very nice. The food is good, the location is perfect, and the terrace at the top is a wonderful place to sit and relax. I already went there 3 times and I always enjoyed it (one nice touch : all pizzas can be served as calzone). And, given the quality of the service and food, it is not more expensive than similar restaurants.

I love this place. It's been now 3 years that I come here regularly, and the food is fantastic, with some dishes you won't find anywhere else in Hanoi (taste the Mountains sausages, for instance...). Some very interesting rice wines, too. The prices are OK, and the atmosphere really nice (with a good mix of vietnamese and foreigners).

Highway 4 restaurants (there are 3 of them now in Hanoi) are a good venue and the food is OK. Perfect for bringing some relatives visiting you (I found the food at the one in May Hac De to be better, by the way). However, I tend to agree with Symmo_24 : the way tables and mats are arranged is not very comfortable if you intend to stay more than half an hour... For a similar experience and a slightly more "original" food, you should try "L'oiseau siffleur / Chim Sao" on Ngo Hué.

It is true the prices are quite high, but I really enjoyed this restaurant for its quiet atmosphere and delicious food (try the Special Couscous on WE days !). Highly recommended.

I am considering buying a brand new Honda Future Neo from a shop in my street, and, despite trying to get the information from the seller, couldn't really understand what the steps are in registering the motorbike and getting a license plate. Which papers are needed, and where should I go ?
Hi,
I am looking for a place where I could find *nice* carpets (e.g. modern-style, wool, with nice designs..).
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Do you know a good furniture designer/carpenter who :
- makes nice furnitures
- speaks english (or french)
- does not cost too much
- does not take too long ?
I do not have extraordinary furnitures to design, but I would like them to fit my rooms as best as possible.
Thanks in advance !
Cheers
Alexis
Our two computers have been stolen in our house yesterday night (together with 3 cameras, an USB backup hard-drive and two bags).
The two computers are an Apple MacBook Pro 17" and a black MacBook. They both come with French (AZERTY) keyboards (and the MBP has a broken corner on the left).
We filed a report to the police, gave our landowner all the necessary details about the stolen stuff.
We do not have much hope in getting them back. However, if someone, by chance, happens to see one of them in a second-hand shop, or on a classified ad, it would be of invaluable help for us, since both the laptops AND the backup disk have been stolen, which means that we do not have any data left...
Are there "reknown" places in Hanoi where this stuff can be sold ? (Apple computer are not so common).
Thanks in advance
Alexis
Does someone know where to find the new Canon EOS 450D (also known, I think, as the Digital Rebel XSi and/or Kiss X2 Digital) in Hanoi ?
Summer is coming and I'm looking for swimming pool furnitures : umbrellas (esp. in wood), umbrella bases, chaise lounges (wood or synthetic rattan), small tables, etc. Where is the best place to find them ?
Does someone know where to find Arrow shirts in Hanoi ? There used to be a store in Vincom Towers dedicated to them but it has disappeared...
OK, we're lucky : we have a swimming pool in the house. And, by these days, it's invaluable... However, it has recently began to become troubled, muddy, green (really green), and none of the products usually used by the landowner have helped. Consequently, he has just... given up. Does someone know good professionals from which we could take an advice and with which we could establish a kind of maintenance contract ?

The two worst things in Hanoi : the weather (too cold in winter, too hot in summer, and very wet) and the noise (bikes, TV sets, street speakers, etc.). Once you get used to them, it's the best city in the world (and probably the safest to live in).

Thanks, pthqn and Annett, for your two clear and detailed answers ! I think I am going to try Huyen's second solution (with a friend of mine)), but I wonder if there could be a problem in case of accident or for the insurance ? And, aren't people limited in terms of the number of motorbikes they can register ?
Cheers

I know there are some IKEA/Habitat furnitures and products in the two UMA shops opened so far in Hanoi. The closest to the center is the one on Kim Ma (exact address is 2 Tran huy Lieu/A5b Giang Vo, Kim Ma street). Good prices, too.

Hi,
Welcome to Hanoi ! I know (because my kids are there) that the quality of the French School (Lycée Français Alexandre Yersin) is very good (much better than most of the schools in France), with an unusual (but very nice for the kids integration in the country) rate of vietnamese children (40%).
However, you might probably prefer an english-speaking school : there are two of them, if I'm correct. HIS (Hanoi International School) and UNIS (United Nations International School). I guess that you will soon get advices for these two ones.
In response to the question: My family and I are planning to move to Hanoi in January (09). I have two children aged 8 and 5 - can anyone provide advice about quality schooling? I...

Hi,
Thanks for your advice. I went to Melinh Plaza and found the shop you are talking about. They have some nice chairs/loungers, but I cannot say I have really found what I was looking for... Went to another shop with beautiful things in their catalogue (esp. loungers in synthetic rattan and large umbrellas) but they import everything from China and you have to wait two months to get them (without, I guess, taking earthquakes and olympic games into account !).
So, does anybody know a place in Hanoi where I could find similar outdoor furnitures ?
