This Saturday, The November Meet Up at Pacific Beer HallHello New Hanoians. Just a quick reminder and correction. In the last newsletter, I erroneously wrote that the Meet Up was taking place on Friday the 29th. Obviously, the 29th is a Saturday. Just make sure that you and everyone you know who was planning on joining us knows that the big day is Saturday the 29th. All else goes forward as planned. We'll be heading out to Pacific Beer Hall on Doi Can Street nice and early to enjoy the a few late afternoon brew

Lecture: Central Highlands and Spiritual Tradition of Jarai , 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm - Have you ever heard of THE KING OF FIRE AND THE KING OF WATER? They play a key role in the unique spiritual world of the Jarai tribal people of the Central Highlands in Vietnam. In this lecture the renown Vietnamese writer, Mr Nguyen Ngoc , who lived for 20 years in the area and is an expert on history and tradition of the people of Central Higlands, will tell us about the Pötao institution of the Jarai people, its power which comes from a living ancient spiritual history, and help us understand the unique position of the Jarai culture and society in our modern times. Mr Ngoc will also make a brief introduction into the history and tradition of the peoples of Central Highlands, as a frame to the special world of Jarai. The lecture will be in Vietnamese, with English translation.
