This is for all of the romantics out there. Myself and my partner (a thoroughly wonderful Vietnamese lady) are planning on getting married in the near future. My question is, what are the official procedures, and the accompanying form filling, that we need to go through. Those of you who have already been through this will have all the information we need I am sure. Thanks in advance.
Just bought a new 2-bed apartment and I'm now the owner of a large empty box that needs transforming into home sweet home. Anyone know of an interior designer who can provide some inspiring ideas on how to effect this transformation? Experience and enthusiasm would be required as this is a full-scale design and installation project.
I've just been informed that some personal effects that my family sent out a few weeks ago have finally arrived in Haiphong. There are about eighteen boxes of books, CDs, cassettes, along with a small amount of household items of sentimental value. Problem is, now I've been told that they have to be 'inspected' by an official from the department of culture, and I may have to pay 'tax' to get it all in. I know I probably will, these things usually involve money being handed over in my experience, but I'd be interested in anyone elses experience in this area, especially as it could help someone else who is considering bringing stuff over in the near future. Over to you!

As a recent arrivee, I have opened two bank accounts in the last few weeks and I'd have to say that ANZ comes out tops in every respect. As far as I know, HSBC does not do personal banking here, unless, that is, someone knows different?
In response to the question: Hi I need to open a bank account in Hanoi within a couple of weeks and was wondering if any bank is best for foreigners. I realise taht the ANZ requir...

Many thanks for such a thorough and informed answer. We will be bearing all your points in mind in coming months as we begin what sounds like a rather drawn out process. Will be worth it though!

A friend of mine bought his Yamaha Exciter (yes, its a bike, not a prophylactic)from a dealer on Thai Ha street and was quite pleased with the service. What interests me is why Yamaha?, my buddy and I have this ongoing thing over the whole Nuovo vs Air blade debate- you might want to look at Honda's range too, although I admit they tend to be a bit pricier.
Good shopping
In response to the question: I would like to buy a yamaha motorbike - can anybody could recommend a favourite dealer (i'm talkin' motorbikes remember)? preferably a dealership ...
