about the venue: Phô Biên

Enormous variety of seafood prepared in an endless variety of traditional and non-traditional ways. Very large place both indoors and outdoors, as well as partially outdoors. Great service. Highly recommended.

about the venue: Baan Thai

The service is not so much uncaring as unthoughtful: "Oh, you need bowls with your soup?" "Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot your napkins." Though it did seem that the waitress was glad to see us go.

The same with the food, which is quite good - just thoughtlessly prepared: the crab not cracked for your convenience, but crushed so that it was hard to pick out the bits of shell from the meat; the shrimp not well peeled - some heads partially on, partially off.

about the venue: Bun Oc Co Beo

Went here with some very young Vietnamese friends - had very good snail noodle soup. 3-story house converted to restaurant among many similar. My friends say it's Hanoi youth's favorite hangout.
