Does Highland coffee at West lake open?

Does Highland coffee at West lake open?
This spot is best place for me to enjoy nice sunshine but it had a plan to remodel. Is there anyone who knows reopening schedule or is it already reopened?

Let me have more information about such a nice cafe as Highland coffee which has nice view and sunshine.

Thanks in advance

Money

I am thinking about coming to Vietnam in the next couple of months. I do not have a job lined up or anything like that so I will be flying by the seat of my pants. I was just curious as to how much money I would need to bring with me to survive while I am searching for some employment as an ESL teacher. Also if I may ask your opiniolns as to whether jobs are still easy to come by? (ie-just start knocking on doors)Finally would you recommend staying in a hostel or renting a place, I do plan on staying for atleast a year.

Tent (hiking shop)

Hi,

Would anyone know where to get a basic small hiking-tent in Hanoi?

Are there any shops around that would sell equipment related to hiking at all? (Except the "russian shop".)

Or maybe an army-shop, or something, with a tent for a whole division.

Thanks

TNH's Designation of "Elite Users"

How does the TNH community feel about our designation of Elite Users? I'm asking because there seems to be some bitterness toward it, and I think it would probably be a good idea if we explained some of our reasoning for you as well.

noise ordinance?

The cafe owner at the end of my alley occasionally starts blasting music at six in the morning, and it doesn't end until eleven at night. The volume really is unbelievable, even by Hanoi standards. I have asked him politely about it, and he literally shoved me onto the street.
I know there is a noise ordinance in Hanoi that can be enforced. Does anyone know what it is? I am looking for something reasonably specific with a link to documentation.
Thanks.

Reasonably Priced Ao Dai

Does anyone know where to get a good ao dai made?

I went to some shops on Kim Ma last night with vietnamese collegue and they were in the 1 - 2 million range. Or a plainer one for about 700-800k. There were many Vietnamese in these shops, but this price still seems so expensive to me!

Help??

Place to buy quality bed sheets?

Can anyone recommend a place to buy luxurious quality, pure cotton bed sheets - that are vaguely reasonably priced?
Also, pillows?

Thanks

Tipping

Okay, the end all question to tipping in which scenario do you tip here in Hanoi? And how much?

1. You are eating at Luna D'Autunno and the bill comes out to 500,000 dong.

2. You are drinking at Dragonfly and order a round of shots for everyone, the bill comes out to 150,000 dong.

3. You are eating at the local Pho joint and the bill comes out to 120,000 for 4 of you.

4. You are drinking coffee at Trung Nguyen with some pals and the bill comes out to 120,000.

5. You go to get a haircut at Daewoo Hotel's barbershop for $7, they include a food massage, neck massage and shave. Who do you tip, and what amount?

6. You go to a legit massage parlor and get a hour rubdown for 180,000 dong.

7. You take a taxi cab ride with Hanoi Taxi and the fare comes out to 70,000 dong.

Feel free to add anything else I missed.

A Search for Cotton Knit Fabric

I'm in the market for cotton knit fabric, preferably bolts that are slightly thick - also, the wider the fabric width, the better.
I know Hanoi is known for its designated streets, so could anyone tell me what street(s) I might find such fabric on? Store recommendations would be even better.

People at ATMs forever!

This is an odd thing I noticed in Vietnam. Many times, I've been waiting to go to an ATM behind a Vietnamese person who takes a VERY long time to finish what they're doing. I'm talking 10-15 minutes of putting in their card, pressing a bunch of buttons, taking out their card, and repeating. Once or twice I've walked away in frustration. It's too many times for them to be doing a cash withdrawal, unless they have multiple cards. Any idea what takes so long?

Taxi Coupon - particularly from Noi Bai Airport

I'll be back in Hanoi soon, and I'd like to avoid spending a high amount of dongs to get to the Hoan Kiem area. I've heard about taxi coupons, and I'd appreciate any information anyone might have on where I could obtain some at the airport? Thanks! :)
