Bank transfer times! (VN bank to VN bank)

I'm currently owed close to VND10 million by a company based in HCMC, and I agreed to allow them to transfer the funds (in VND) into my domestic bank account.

I am with BIDV and I'm not sure which bank they use.

As of today, it's been well over 7 business days since they apparently ran the transfer, but no money yet.

Does anyone have any experiences with bank-to-bank transfers in the country? How long does it take?

Also, does anyone know why my funds had to be transferred through Chase Manhattan bank in NYC??

We do a few these in-country between our business and other businesses (both send and receive). On average it is 2-3 days.

Our advice, ask for a copy of the TT document, and check carefully that all of the details of your account are correct. Would also confirm that the transfer has actually been made.

When we do transfers internationally, sometime "corresponding" banks are used, therefore for example the Transfer may go via Chase Manhattan bank in NYC. Why this would apply to a domestic transfer I'm not sure.

Thanks for the info, Mike.

I've been trying to get paid by this company for close to two months now and I am really starting to get frustrated with them. They came back at me with all kinds of ridiculous requests (wanted photocopies of EVERY page in my passport) and have given me every excuse under the sun.

UGH! Now that I know domestic transfers shouldn't take more than a week I'm going to have to write another firm yet polite email demanding my fee.

Do I have any recourse if these guys just keep f-ing me over?

If you provided them with a legal red invoice you have some recourse. If you did this freelance i.e illegally then no.

I do have a red invoice, so that's good!

I finally got ahold of the company owner and he, apparently, is personally going to put the money through on Monday.

We. Shall. See.

This company has obviously taken you for a ride. After receiving your payment, why not put their name here so we also can avoid them in the future?
