Hi all,
I'm looking for life drawing classes/groups (that is drawing nudes, in a no-happy-endings, strictly art kinda way!)
Does anyone know if any classes or groups exist here?

I have always felt that if i could just sing well then i might be able to take over the world... ha really i just want to be a good singer it would make me oh so happy and i have heard it is something that can be taught unlike creativity or whatever... so if you are qualified let me know.or if you know of a person/place that is let me know. I am currently a tone deaf version of Janis Joplin... almost anything would be an improvement.

Hi,
I've been reading the review of the nightlife here but I haven't seen anything specifically mentioning hip-hop and R&B clubs. Are there any good ones there?

Hi all,
I have been registered with this site for some time and I have found that it is a useful tool for connecting with other foreigners.
However, I would like to see more information about life and culture in Vietnam. I think it would be useful if the newsletters told what this mid-autumn celebration is about, Tet, school holidays and more. Maybe the newletter can include information about what the Vietnamese are doing this month and other upcoming events. How is it significant for them? I have found myself now observing what I have been told is the 'mid-autumn festival" however I have not been able to find out what the stories are, who the iconic character are and other significant details about the food, the masks and the lanterns. I see it but I don't understand it.
As a foreigner in Hanoi, I would like to understand the life and culture of this city rather than an ignorant guest. I hope the New Hanoian can provide this education.
Kind regards
Glen

Hey,
...so where are Hanois graveyards located? Particularly where the locals used to bury the Hanoians sometimes around 50-100 years ago? Im trying to track some Westerners, missionaries and merchants, buried here then, so any information is appreciated.
2. Any 2nd hand markets around somewhere?
Thanks

Has anyone been to Le Mat (the snake village)? Is it cool? What's the best way to get there for a motorbikeless person? Would I need to hire a guide if my Vietnamese is dodgy, or is it the kind of place I can just show up at?

We are moving to Vietnam in 2 months. I was wondering which city would you choose to live in given the chance? Hanoi, Ho Chi Min or a city 1/2 between them. What the positives/ negatives of any of them? We are a young couple, in our twenties, no children, like activites and nightlife. Which city offers jobs to foreigners?
Thanks

Does anyone know HOW people are informed of planned power outages? Over the loud speaker? On the neighborhood chalkboards? etc. Would love to know cause they seem to happen just when I need to do something that requires power. How hard can it be to learn a few words to be more informed on this? haha. Thanks in advance, Steph

I was wondering whether there is any club specialised in Techno/House/Electro music.
Every "club" I visited before (Lighthouse, Solace) played only Hip Hop.
Where can I find a good one?

Hey, I'm really interested in starting to feel more like a part of the community and I think the best way to do that would be through volunteer work or something. I don't speak Vietnamese at all so I'm not sure how much of a problem that is. I really like children so that would be good. Thanks

I've noticed two "strategies" used by taxi drivers:
The fairly obvious one is when they take a long, roundabout route to inflate the meter.
The one that happened to me recently shocked me with its blatantness. The bill was about 80k, I gave him 100. He showed me his wallet - wow, no change! My gf and I looked for smaller bills, but no deal. It was late and nothing was open to get change, so after awhile we just got frustrated and said "Ok, whatever, keep it," and left.
So I know the preventive tip of making sure you call a reputable company - though they've ripped us off too. So, what can you do, basically, once you've been ripped off?

The Van Ho Ba is a jazz/latin/funk band playing in and around Hanoi and are looking for a trumpet player to join the ranks. Anyone know a trumpeteer or are you one yourself and looking for a musical outlet?!
