For 6 days a week you can expect to pay at least $200 a month or more. Most people seem to have maids for 5 days for that amount. Also, you may have trouble getting 8 hours.

according to http://www.maidinvietnam.com/cost.htm MAID HIRE Actual cost depends upon what specific work functions are required ( i.e. Housekeeping, Child Care, Cookery, language etc), hours worked per day and days per week. As a general guideline, the average monthly charge for a "full time Maid" working an 8 hour day with 1 hour for lunch, 5 days per week is from US$ 210 to US$ 260 depending upon the maid's language ability. Part time service is prorated subject to the duties required. Short term hire starts from US$ 2 per hour. In Vietnam the law requires all local staff to be paid an addition month's salary for the Tet New Year holiday. Other bonuses are discretional subject to monthly performance reports. Overtime runs at US$ 2 per hour on weekdays and US$ 3 per hour on weekends and public holidays. HTH!

Mmmm, just as a comparison to put things into perspective, I have new university graduates with English degrees and accounting degrees seeking work in my company and their asking salary is 2 million VND (US$125) per month for a 5 day working week. Another young lady (English + Accounting degrees) already in a job with 2 years experience is asking for US$200/month.
Hmm.. maybe someone is ripping someone off somewhere.... shocking:)

we are paying USD 100 for 4hours six days/wk. actually hours are not so imp in our case. we have the tasks that needs to be completed..cleaning, dishes, washing etc when its done, she leaves. Yes we also give the tet bonus and 12 days for leave per year.

We pay our maid / babysitter $220 per month for 5 days / 9+ hours depending on our work shcedules (babysitting at night is extra). Yes she does earn more than some people working in offices / factories etc. BUT I'm entrusting her with the care and welfare of my children while I am at work and I go and don't worry everything is ok as I know she is good at her job. For this the price is justified don't you think??

I talked to someone who trains and hires out maids specifically for the 'expat' marlet and she told me that they charge from $160 up to $250 depending on the level of english, skills and experience

I pay 50,000 for 3-4 hours to my countryside maid with no english. For a live-in maid, I would try to pay something around 1 million a month. If she can spin straw into gold or turn water into wine then I think $250 is definitely an excellent price.
