Retail therapy required- but where are the malls?
no photo available

Ok, I'm ashamed to say it, but all the shopping in different places has lost its fun and right now I just want to go to a mall and indulge in retail therapy and get everything I need there. So where are the malls of Hanoi?

Yes, Vincom is the best "mall" in Hanoi, but it's over-priced. Everything you can get there is available cheaper outside. There is also the mall by the lake, trang tien plaza is a good mall also. If your looking for clothes better yet print off some designs from the net and get them made for you. You can get a Vietnamese friend to help you and they have whole markets of material just outside of Hanoi (about 8 km along the river) and you buy it for dirt cheap and get it made in Hanoi. It makes for a good day trip and it is rarely visited by foreigners.

But if your in need of big time shopping.. Bangkok or HCMC is the way to go.

Try shopping at Bangkok! Nok Air is offering a special introductory promotion rate at US$95 only, return with airport taxes in Hanoi and Bangkok included. You have to book at least 2-3 weeks in advance though to get that rate. You can book at their Phan Chu Trinh sales office or online at www.nokair.com.

Ruby Plaza on Le Ngoc Han Street (Hai Ba Trung Street) is the newest mall in Hanoi. Its a shopping mall dedicated to jewelry, cosmetic, perfumes and other beauty stuffs. A spa and several restaurants are included too.

some smaller malls:
Pacific Place on Ly Thuong Kiet has Lacoste, Bang&Olufsen, Ninewest and Valentino RED.
The Hanoi Towers have some shops too.

Hanoi has plenty of fine shopping streets with more local products such as Pho Hue Street, Nha Tho Street, Ba Trieu Street, Chua Boc Street (Parkson department store is opening soon there) and Hang Bong Street. Basically, shopping in the old quarter is a way more exciting. The best shops are deep inside.

I you wanna spend a lot o money then go to the Opera square (near Trang Tien St., Hoan Kiem Dist.). You'll find single boutiques of Burberry, Escada, Louis Vuitton, Salvatore Ferragamo, Khaisilk and so.

The Luxury Mall in the Ocean Park Bldg on Dao Duy Anh Street is very expensive but they have many famous italien brands like Versace, Gianfranco Ferre, Armani, D&G and CNC.

If you wanna enjoy world-class shopping then wait until next year, when The Garden Lifestyle Mall (near The Manor - My Dinh) will open its door. Ciputra Mall will be the biggest mall in Vietnam, but it will be under construction or the next 3 years.

oh I forgot BigC Thang Long. That might be a good place too. They have a supermarket and plenty of less expensive shops.
