Where in Ba Dinh? Is the whole building new or just the apartment? $900 for a nice 3 bedroom is pretty cheap so check it all carefully. What are the charges for electric, TV, cable and water? Visit it at night and see how noisy/safe it seems. Does it look like construction is going to start anywhere nearby? Are there any loudspeakers on the street near? How near the “rooftop bar” is it? Is the bar accessed by separate elevators or will this be a security issue? Is it a commercial landlord or a one-off? Supermarket may mean roaches.
You say a 6 month lease but your blog says the landlord wants 6 months rent up front. That’s way beyond the norm but may be worth it if you like the apartment.
I live in Ba Dinh and would be happy to take a look and give you a second opinion if you’d like. Just send me a private message.
Hello "Ms Angel": It depends on the location and $900 per month seems a bit expensive. The two most expensive property rentals in hanoi are: Lang Quoc Te Thang Long Thang Long International Village and Trung Hoa Nhan Chinh (near big C supermarket). I have a flat in the International Village, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, lots of space, very clean for rent. Please look at the "For Rent" section of this website and check the photos for my apartment: Cau Giay District and the price is $750 per month. Call me so we can talk about your options and see if my place is more suitable for you.

Hope to hear from you!
Take care.

My current apartment is in the same "international village" that rain_bowl1983 is mentioning above, and I pay about $280 a month for three (relatively small) bedrooms. The overall apartment is about 100 sq. meters. Since I signed this lease (almost two years ago), prices have gone up considerably, but other apartments like mine in the same building are only going for $500-$600. For $900, you better have a touch of swank (but only a touch).
