Belly Dance in Hanoi?
no photo available

Hello,

I am wondering if there are any bellydance classes that might exist in Ha Noi or fellow bellydancers for that matter.

I would also be interested in any information on any other quality dance classes whether it be modern, jazz, kathak, thai etc.

Have a nice week everyone.

Saturday evening at the Sheraton's Nutz pub, salsa class will be conducted. Haven't been there myself but you can check it out and post a review here. Cool?

Seems that Nutz Pub at Sheraton has got dance classes going on in most of the evening.

Tuesday - Belly Dance from 8 - 10pm
Wednesday - Salsa from 8 - 10pm
Thursday - Argentinian Tango from 6 - 8pm
Satruday - Salsa from 8 - 10pm

You get to purchase a entrance coupon at 60,000 VND which gives you 2 beer or soft drinks.

Pop by to the belly dance with colleagues at work. The crowd was mostly local girls (well, if any male is doing belly dancing I wonder...). The instructor started off the evening with some basic warm up, then move on to more complicated movement and then move on to some routine with the real music where everyone will dance to the music. There was 1 short break between the sessions.

Go check it out. Not a bad place but the pub tent to turn a little.....well....zoo-ish after that

Hi Ngumali!

Did you manage to check out or enrol in the bellydancing classes at the Sheraton? I find the Sheraton a bit far from the center of town (especially when you don't drive a bike yet), so would appreciate to know also if you found others.

I'm also interested in learning Indian dance ever since I watched that Mira Nair movie "Kama Sutra". Very graceful indeed.

Many thanks in advance!

Hi GlobalNomad,

Sorry it has been a while since I have been on the site. So I did go to the Sheraton and it was just ok. It really depends on what you are looking for.
I personally will not be going back but it could be appreciated by some.

The classes are overbooked which means that there is not enough space to actually dance. It was not an "art of dance class" it was more like an aerobics class for women who work in offices all day if you know what I mean. The classes are real beginner level so it can be a bit boring if you have taken dance classes before.

But.......it can be kind of fun if you feel like doing something different one evening maybe even with some girlfriends. It is really cheap too - only 30,000VND per class - plus you get a drink ticket! So you could even stay after for drinks at the Sheratons Nutz pub.

I think I might have an indian dance hook up. I met an indian man whoose wife teaches for the international womans club or something. Post your e-mail and I will e-mail you the info.

P.S. That movie also inspired me to study Kathak dancing. Funny coincedence!

Hi Ngumali!

Thanks for the info. Only saw your e-mail now. I heard one lady teaching bellydance also at the Sedona Suites and tried contacting her, but they said she doesn't live there anymore.

Anyway, could you pass on the contact number of that Indian lady who teaches Indian dance? My e-mail address is on my profile.

Thanks again!

P.S: Sheraton is a little bit far from me. Maybe when I get my bike, then it will be more accessible.

Hi Ngumali!
Thkx for ur sharing info. I'm looking for a bellydance class for a couple of weeks but found nothing. I've tried Sheraton's class, but it's too crowded and just exactly what u've comment - full of overweight women just wanted to lost weight! hix hix! So boring - even for a beginner like me.
So, I will very glad if u could send me the contact number or address of other bellydance classes u know.
Thankxxxxxxxxx!
