Am headed on a short (1 week) vacation to KL in a couple of weeks and unfor will need to do some shopping while there. I am a rare woman, I HATE shopping, so am trying to get some ideas on where to go beforehand, so I can spend more time relaxing than buying. What I need are: women's clothes (am about a U.S. size 12, like casual California style and/or like Old navy, Calvin Klein, Gap, but dont need the brand name, just this kind of style and muted tones AND undergarments. I wouldnt mind buying a digital camera there too, but that is really low on the priority list since they are easily available in Hanoi, whereas the other stuff is really hard to find for me.
I found some info on shopping malls in KL, and if I have to, I will go to them. But finances are not unlimited, so the more affordable the goods, the better.
Appreciate any tips on good shops or areas (preferred) that would have these items.
Thanks,
Steph

A few places that you can hit are: 1) KLCC (KLCC train station); 2) Bukit Bintang area and; 3) Berjaya Times Square. Both KLCC and Berjaya Times Square are one-stop malls that sell everything and anything under the sun, but they are more on the high-end side of things. Bukit Bintang is generally the shopping area of KL, with a variety of malls that suits most budgets, and there is some leeway for bargaining (I think). All three are served by the KL subway/skyrail, but I can't quite remember which are the stops for Bukit Bintang area and Berjaya Times Square. Just ask at the train station, and someone should be able to give you instructions on how to get there.

Maihanoi is right Bukit Bintang has malls one after the other and you just have to take a quick look whether you can find what you are looking for. KLCC is more upmarket and has the international brands and a good Marke & Spencer (UK's famous high street store where the Queen gets her undies from !) and you will find a wide variety of good undergarments to stock. A few bucks spent on M&S products would be worth for their quality to last a long time and brave the laundry traumas in Hanoi. There are plenty of night markets too and you can snazz up some good pairs of trousers, shirts, tees etc. Good Luck ! KL is a great place to shop ..!

Well after just coming back from a shopping weekend in KL I can say that the two most central and best range of places (according to my sister who's almost a local) are KLCC (they have Gap in there) and Pavilion shopping centre. (both walking distance from each other). Pavillion has a huge forever 21 with a big discount section up the back where i got lots of stuff. Both have the usual suspects, my favourite shops like Topshop, Mango, Zara. If your after more classic stuff I also so banana republic and club monaco (i think in KLCC - maybe u shd google what shops they've got) And if you are lucky all the sales will still be on. The Dept stores have big underwear sections - Tangs and Parkson

Can I find good quality toys in the above mentioned malls/places. We are there for Xmas and one of the aims is to let the kids select decent toys (ie not flimsy plastic street crap)for their gifts? (I can post this question properly if need be) pippasweetie

I went to Sogo Mall in Kl sometimes and i found out that it's quite resonable price. That's in the Indian street so everything, as my opinion, are cheaper than the other.
