I have one and it keeps the humidity at around 40%. For camera equipment, especially lenses you want to get the humidity to this level (especially as the weather becomes cooler).
Did it come with a manual/instructions? Where did you buy it? - I'd suggest taking it back to see if they can do check it or recalibrate the dehumidifier.
