Thanksgiving, Prizes, and the Annual Bazaar!

A happy Thanksgiving to all who have found the time to celebrate with your friends and family. We here in the New Hanoian family have had a splendid Turkey-Day and are hard at it again...bringing you some additional reasons that you may end up thankful. As November winds to a close, you'll have your last chance to contribute your way to one of our trio of prizes. Write reviews, answer questions, or add new spots to the site. It all goes toward distinguishing your presence on the New Hanoian and getting a prize voucher sent your way. And, let's not forget, once again we'll be giving out one of our prizes for the best review of the month. That winner will be chosen by user response. The review with the most "well-written", "funny", "useful", and "accurate" props given by the community will be rewarded. Our first bit of contribution bounty on offer for November comes compliments of one of Hanoi's newest interior design and home furnishing shops. Located in the Trung Hoa area, Tes Decor will be allowing one of our lucky site users to choose among their handmade bronze tabletop figures. Brought to Hanoi straight from Pakistan, these are truly unique items not likely to be seen around the city's typical gift buying haunts. In addition to these decorative articles of the highest quality, Tes Decor has a full range of furniture, lighting, and design packages ready to take any living space to the next level. As our lucky winners head out to Trung Hoa to pick up a most unique conversation piece to add to their home, they'll be on a full tour of the shop's operations. Who knows what else may catch their eye in this season of giving? Giving is certainly what we'll be doing plenty of around here. And, if you're looking for something a little more sensual, then perhaps the prize on offer from Binh's salon and spa on Xuan Dieu is the sort of thing you might have had in mind. One of our outstanding site members and a companion will be invited to make their way to Binh's Xuan Dieu location for the full head to toe treatment. You'll be getting no less than a shampoo, scalp massage, facials, full body massage, manicures, pedicures...name it. The weight of the world may have taken its toll as you pull up to the shop, but walking out, you will have been made anew. There are few ways to recover from the Hanoian grind as effectively as this sort of total treatment. Whether it's a personal treat, or a gift for somebody special, few fail to appreciate the opportunity to be pampered so fullly. Finally, we've got a bit of good old fashioned drinking that the dipsomaniacs out there are always on the lookout for from the New Hanoian user contribution prizes. In this case, it comes compliments of Red Bar. Using its past hosting of a New Hanoian meet up to launch its entry into the Hanoi nightlife scene, the bar now hosts a variety of weekly events. One of our winner's will get a chance to bring an added dimension to an already special night. While ladies always drink for free from pm~10pm Friday nights at Red Bar, on this evening, four accompanying male companions will enjoy the same luxary. If one of the many very active ladies of the New Hanoian winds up with this prize, she'll be treating four greatful lads to a night of free boozing. And, I don't suppose I have to explain to many of your gents how a night of free drinking in a bar where any and all ladies...drink for free...on ANY Friday night. Get all those reviews you've been saving up and get them on the site for your chance to win one of these three prizes. They're all worth that little something that takes you from being another active and appreciated member of the site to being an award winning icon of our community. Show us what you've got. Before we sign out, we also want to bring a great event this coming weekend to your attention. It's grown into quite the yearly tradition here around Hanoi, so don't let it pass without serious thinking about attending. The Hanoi International Women's Club (HIWC) will be organizing the much anticipated Festival Charity Bazaar on the UNIS campus in Ciputra on Sunday 25th November 2007 from 10am to 4pm. From its humble origins in 1986 when a group of about 30 women formed the Hanoi Diplomatic Ladies Group, HIWC has involved into one of the biggest charitable women's clubs in South East Asia Today. There will be more than 30 embassies taking part selling multi-cultural delicacies and delightful crafts from countries near and far, as well as local vendors with tables offering unique arts and crafts at special prices to attract all visitors. The Bazaar will hold a raffle (lucky draw) contest during the afternoon break from its live entertainment – music and dances by Vietnamese and International performers. There will be more than 100 prizes given out. All proceeds from the Bazaar go directly to supporting the many charities in and around Hanoi. The public can visit their website www.hanoi-iwc.com to view a list of the wide variety of community aid projects HIWC has sponsored during the past years and see how the money earned at all fund-raising events is monitored and spent. Tickets costs 70.000 VND for adults and 50.000 VND for children. These entrance and raffle tickets will be available at all HIWC functions and selected retail outlets before the day of the Bazaar. Additionally, all entrance tickets and raffles van be bought at the gate on the day of the bazaar. There you have it. Don't let yourself drift through this Sunday without heading out to UNIS and checking out the Bazaar. Then, head home and write up a batch of reviews for all those hot spots you hit over the weekend. Cheers, The Staff of the New Hanoian
